Marlborough Black Forest Pinot Noir

VITICULTURE WINEMAKING
2020 was a stunning year for Hawkes Bay across all varietals, including Merlot. A very dry growing period over summer that continued right through the autumn harvest window resulted in fruit with great concentration of flavour, and the grapes were harvested in perfect condition at optimal ripeness.

The fruit was crushed into small red fermenters. Initial fermentation took place over 10 days, with mixing of the cap 3 times per day. The wine remained on skins for a further 7 days until being pressed off skins. After pressing, the wine was oak-aged. Oak barrels were used, adding depth and texture while preserving the wine's delicate fruitiness for a balanced, elegant finish.
